Terms and Conditions
Effective as of September 6, 2026 ยท Texas, USA
By accessing or enrolling in any program offered by Emerson Latin, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms.
I. Introduction and Scope
These terms govern the provision of educational services by Emerson Latin LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Texas, USA, and apply to all clients, students, and guardians who access or use Emerson Latin's programs.
II. Services Offered
Emerson Latin offers instruction in Latin, classical humanities, and Humane Letters, in two formats: Small Group Classes, running four to ten students on a defined term schedule, and One-on-One Tutorials, arranged individually.
III. Payment and Billing
Tuition is stated in Korean won, the currency in which it is actually charged; an approximate U.S. dollar figure is shown for reference only and fluctuates with the exchange rate.
Small Group Classes. Tuition for a term (ten sessions) is due before the term begins. A deposit reserves a seat; the balance is due before the first session. Unlike a typical Western tutoring deposit, this deposit is not separately forfeitable. It is simply an early portion of tuition, and is refunded according to the schedule in Section IV like any other tuition already paid.
One-on-One Tutorials. Tuition is due before each session. Emerson Latin does not extend credit for future sessions until prior sessions are settled.
Processing Fees. Payments are processed through Stripe. In the event of a refund, Stripe's own processing fee is deducted from the amount returned. This fee is assessed by the payment processor and is not retained by Emerson Latin.
International Fees. Payments made from outside the United States may be subject to additional fees imposed by the client's own bank or card issuer, such as international transaction fees or currency conversion charges. These fees are set and collected by the client's financial institution, not by Emerson Latin, and Emerson Latin has no visibility into or control over them.
IV. Cancellation and Refunds
Emerson Latin's refund policy is modeled on the tuition-refund standard used by private teaching institutes in Korea, adapted to our ten-session term:
- Before the term begins: full refund of all tuition paid.
- Before the fourth session (less than one-third of the term elapsed): two-thirds of tuition refunded.
- Before the sixth session (less than one-half of the term elapsed): half of tuition refunded.
- From the sixth session onward: no refund.
This schedule applies to the whole of what has been paid, deposit included. There is no separate, non-refundable deposit portion.
If Emerson Latin cancels. If a course must be canceled, including where a course does not reach the enrollment needed to run, enrolled families receive a full refund of all fees paid, deposit included, with no deduction.
One-on-One Tutorials. Because tutorial fees are paid per session, no refund applies to a session already completed. A session canceled by the client with insufficient notice may be forfeited at Emerson Latin's discretion.
Rescheduling. Requests to reschedule are accommodated where possible, subject to availability, and do not themselves entitle a client to a refund or credit if an alternative time cannot be arranged.
V. Attendance and Conduct
Clients and students are expected to attend punctually and engage in good faith. Emerson Latin does not issue credits or refunds for sessions missed by the client. Emerson Latin reserves the right to withdraw a student, without refund of the remaining balance, if their conduct materially disrupts the learning environment.
VI. Intellectual Property
Materials prepared and shared by Emerson Latin in the course of instruction are the intellectual property of Emerson Latin LLC, licensed for personal, non-commercial use within the immediate household of the enrolled student. Reproduction, distribution, or publication of these materials to third parties, without prior written consent, is a breach of these terms.
VII. Privacy
Emerson Latin collects personal information solely to administer enrollment, communicate with clients, and process payments; see the Privacy Policy for full detail.
VIII. Limitation of Liability
Emerson Latin provides educational services on an as-is basis and makes no guarantee of specific academic outcomes or examination results. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Emerson Latin's aggregate liability to any client shall not exceed the fees paid by that client for the services at issue.
IX. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Texas. Clients are encouraged to raise concerns directly with Emerson Latin before initiating formal proceedings.
X. Miscellaneous
Severability. An unenforceable provision is modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed; the remainder stays in force.
Entire Agreement. These terms, with any enrollment confirmation, constitute the entire agreement between the parties.
