The year runs in five terms of ten weeks: Fall, Winter, Spring, Trinity, and Summer. Each begins the day after the last one ends, so there is never a long wait to start.

Why five terms, and why these names
Most schools divide the year in two or three. Five shorter terms mean that a student who decides in October does not wait until January, and a student who falls in love with Latin in the summer does not lose the habit by September.
Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer explain themselves. Trinity is borrowed from Oxford and Cambridge, where the term that runs from April into June has carried that name for centuries. We keep it because it is ours now, and because a calendar, like a school, is more pleasant when it has a little history in it.
Within the year
- Winter Intensive. Over the Christmas break: the AP Latin catch-up, eight sessions in two weeks.
- Spring Review. One week, five days, in the spring: a full review of every AP Latin passage before the May exam.
- Summer Intensive. Concentrated courses, among them Intensive Latin and AP Latin, often taken by boarding school students before the fall.
- Contest preparation. Short courses of up to five sessions before each international contest’s deadline, announced in News.
A student may join at the start of any term, and most courses accept students mid-term as well. Which term, and which course? That is what the free fifteen minutes are for.
