IB Latin Higher Level Program

Format: The course is conducted in real-time through virtual sessions, fostering active participation and collaboration with both the tutor and peers.

Prerequisites: Prior completion of any of our Latin programs (Oxford, Grammar, Intensive, ASAP, or Natural), or proficiency at an equivalent level, is required for enrollment. While we recommend completion of a short course in Latin literature from our offerings, it’s not mandatory.

Course Description

Designed for students passionate about classical languages, our IB Latin Higher Level (HL) program offers a comprehensive exploration of Latin literature, language, and culture in 120 class hours, a significant departure from the 240 teaching hours it usually takes in a school setting. Students will develop their translation skills, deepen their understanding of Latin texts, and appreciate the historical and cultural contexts that shaped Roman civilization. Our program combines rigorous academic study with engaging activities, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience that prepares students for the IB Latin HL examination and beyond.

Our IB Latin Higher Level program offers an immersive experience into the language, literature, and culture of ancient Rome. With a comprehensive curriculum covering major Latin authors, detailed grammar and syntax review, and advanced translation techniques, students will gain a deep understanding of Latin, ensuring readiness for the IB exam and beyond.
