The National Mythology Exam is administered annually to more than six thousand students across approximately four hundred and fifty schools in the United States and internationally. Its scope is unchanged: the full inheritance of Greek and Roman mythology, tested with enough breadth and precision that genuine familiarity with the tradition is the only reliable preparation. One Emerson Latin student answered every question correctly. The full record is set down below.

Gio Hyung achieved a Perfect Paper in the 2023 National Mythology Exam. She has achieved it again in 2024. A Perfect Paper on the NME requires answering every question correctly across the full range of Greek and Roman mythology — genealogies, transformations, lesser figures, variant traditions, the kind of material that resists targeted preparation because there is no finite list to prepare from. To do it once is notable. To do it in consecutive years is a different kind of result: it is evidence not of a single excellent performance but of a knowledge that has settled and held. We congratulate Gio — and all five placing students — with particular satisfaction.
