Congratulations to Hunjae Lee and Gyuyeon Park!
We are thrilled to announce that our two exceptional students, Hunjae and Gyuyeon, have been nominated for the 2024 Maureen O'Donnell Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes outstanding Latin students who have earned gold medals in the most advanced levels of the National Latin Exam, including Advanced Prose, Advanced Poetry, and Advanced Reading Comprehension.
Throughout their journey at Emerson Latin, Hunjae and Gyuyeon have consistently demonstrated exceptional proficiency in Latin. Their dedication and hard work have earned them top prizes and summa cum laude honors in various competitions, spanning from beginning to advanced levels. Additionally, they have diligently prepared for high-stakes exams such as the IGCSE and AP Latin, showcasing their commitment to academic excellence.
Despite their remarkable achievements and being among the top Latin students globally, Hunjae and Gyuyeon, as high school freshman and sophomore respectively, are ineligible to apply for the scholarship. This requirement mandates that applicants must be high school seniors intending to pursue at least 6 credit hours of Latin during their first year of college. Nevertheless, their inclusion among the scholarship nominees is a testament to their extraordinary dedication and accomplishments in the study of Latin literature.
We couldn't be prouder of Hunjae and Gyuyeon's accomplishments, and we eagerly anticipate their continued success in their academic pursuits. Congratulations once again to both Hunjae and Gyuyeon on this well-deserved recognition!
