JOHN CHO
Originally from California, John Cho first began his career in education teaching literature and writing at English academies in the Gangnam area of Seoul, Korea. In addition to his teaching duties, he conducted essay workshops for high school seniors applying to colleges abroad. After founding Emerson Latin in 2015, he's been teaching Latin to learners of all ages and at all levels, up to and beyond the AP Latin Exam, and has witnessed many of his students gain admittance to top universities in the United States, including Stanford, Princeton, and Columbia. A magna cum laude graduate in Classics, Philosophy, and Literature from California State University, Long Beach, he was a finalist for the Commencement Award from the College of Liberal Arts (given to two students from the graduating class). For his liberal scholarship, he was inducted into the academic honor societies of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Golden Key International. In 2019 he was made a member of the American Classics League, whose mission is to advance the teaching of Latin and classical civilization to students young and old.

Founded in 1977, Golden Key International is the world’s oldest collegiate honor society. It is “committed to a high standard of scholastic achievement and an ethos of integrity, innovation, respect, collaboration, and diversity.”

Founded in 1919, the American Classics League celebrates, supports, and advances the teaching and learning of the classical languages, literatures, and cultures and their timeless relevance.
